I have been a home inspector since 2003. Prior to that, I had a brief and rather unremarkable career as a real estate sales agent. Before that, I worked in the corporate and industrial theatre world for companies that designed and built scenery, lighting rigs, and special effects for corporate functions, sales meetings, trade shows, product launches, awards ceremonies, sporting events and festivals.
My background is in technical theatre. I received a BS from Illinois State University and an MFA from the University of Connecticut. I worked in corporate theatre for almost 10 years before economic challenges caused companies to cut back on spending for their meetings.

Home inspection is a great fit for me. I got the Master’s degree because I thought I would teach at the college level someday. Now I get to teach at every inspection. I get to show my clients how to maintain their home, how to make the home more efficient, and how to make their home safe. I love working with first time buyers because they ask such great questions. I really enjoy inspecting old homes. It is great to see the history of Chicago architecture one basement or attic at a time.
My goal is to provide my clients with the information they need to make an informed decision, and to present that information in a non-alarmist way. If there is an issue I want to describe what it is, what can be done to correct it, and what can be the consequence of not correcting it. Most of all, I want my client to come away from the inspection knowing as much as they can about that property. I also want them to know that I am always there for them and that they are my client for life.
